Who we are

Chalet Beach House is a private vacation rental located on Lac-Simon, Quebec (CITQ 289133). For privacy questions: chaletbeachhouseinfo@gmail.com.

The person in charge of the protection of personal information is the owner of Chalet Beach House. Contact: chaletbeachhouseinfo@gmail.com.

What we collect and why

We don't use a login system. Your browsing is anonymous unless you submit an inquiry. We use third-party analytics and advertising tools to understand how visitors find and use the site, and to measure the effectiveness of our ads.

These tools only activate after your explicit consent, except for Turnstile (Cloudflare's anti-spam protection), which is strictly functional and sets no tracking cookies.

Analytics and advertising tools we use

Booking inquiries

When you submit an inquiry via the form, we collect your name, email address, phone number (optional), and stay dates. This information is handled directly by us, stored on servers in Canada, and used solely to respond to your inquiry. It is never sent to these tools or shared with third parties.

How long we keep it: if an inquiry doesn't turn into a booking, we delete it 2 years after our last exchange. A booking, its contract and its payment records are kept for 7 years after your stay, because tax rules require it, then deleted. Our encrypted backups expire on their own schedule, so a deleted record can linger in a backup for up to 12 months before it's gone for good. Backups are only ever used to restore our systems.

Availability alerts

If you sign up for availability alerts through the form on our website, we collect your email address, your language, the date of your consent, and the version of the consent wording you agreed to. We use them only to let you know when fall and winter weekends open up. They are not sold or shared with our analytics or advertising providers.

You can withdraw your consent at any time by writing to chaletbeachhouseinfo@gmail.com. We keep your address for up to 24 months from the date of your consent. If you withdraw your consent, we delete it within 30 days. You can sign up again at any time; a new consent restarts the 24-month period. Your rights of access, correction and deletion are described below.

Cross-border data transfers

These analytics and advertising tools process aggregated and anonymized browsing data (pages visited, clicks, time on site) on servers in the United States. Your personal details submitted via the inquiry form are never sent to these analytics or advertising providers. These transfers are governed by each provider's Standard Contractual Clauses and privacy policy.

Functional cookies

Regardless of your choice, we use strictly necessary cookies to operate the site: a session cookie to remember your chosen language, and a CSRF token to secure the form. These cookies do not track you across other websites.

Your rights (Law 25 / PIPEDA)

You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected, to request its deletion, and to withdraw your consent at any time. To exercise these rights, email us at chaletbeachhouseinfo@gmail.com. We answer these requests in writing within 30 days. These rights come from Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (access: s. 27; correction: s. 28) and article 40 of the Civil Code of Québec (deletion of information that is obsolete or not justified by the purpose of the file). If you believe our practices fall short of the law, you may file a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.

Geographic scope

This site markets a Quebec-based vacation rental and accepts inquiries from Canadian residents. Visitors from the European Union, United Kingdom, or other jurisdictions are welcome to browse, but bookings are not accepted from these regions. Our data-protection practices follow Quebec's Law 25 and Canada's federal PIPEDA — they are not designed to satisfy the requirements of the European GDPR.
